The Dummy Mic

Was He talking to me??? I had to stop and laugh the moment I saw read the sticker. Yes, I felt the Lord was talking to me!

The message was on a microphone of all places. How appropriate for one who calls herself a 'speaker'! "Dummy Mic" it said. (No comments allowed from my two friends who read this : ) I thought about what God called me, not a speaker, but a voice...a voice for Him. The 'dummy mic' fit perfectly. He Speaks...I am just the outlet.

My friend B mentioned the fact that my husband's name is Mike. Get it? Dummy Mic (Mike). There were two of us! I got 'the look' when I shared that with my hubby. A smile at the right moment can get you out of the dog house.

Have you identified your gifts? We have all been gifted to serve our neighbor. And who is our neighbor? Sometimes we still want further clarification on the whole 'neighbor' thing. Read Jesus' response to that question in Luke 10: 30-37.

If we want to have eyes that see, God will show us people who are stranded on the side of the road in life. They have almost given up. Many people have already passed them by. They have no hope. We can see the pain from their wounds. They need to see the Great Physician. God wants to use our gifts so they can see Him, not us!

Step out in faith today and use your gifts to be a blessing to someone else.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

  2. Hi Barbra,

You're so right, God is the source behind our gifts, but like Jesus, joy comes when we use them for His glory!

    great post!

  3. Hi Barbara! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment - your tips were great by the way! I think I might have enough material for this seminar after all!

Great post today - I'm definitely going to remember the "dummy mic" next time I prepare to speak!

    Thanks again,

  4. Barbara,
What is so much more amazing, is God gives gifts to those who, apparently not sincere in their faith.

    Matthew 7:21-24 (King James Version)

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

And look at what Paul says,

Phil 1:15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.y 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition,z not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.3a 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

I think God gives gifts to men, such as those in Mt. seven to advance the cause of Christ.
    What do you think?
Sorry, I missed your last two post.
