Meet
B, the joyful turtle. She really is full of joy. Sometimes her joy is so big she starts leaping on the log. Imagine a Carly Patterson style leap! (Well, I did say
imagine :) Turtles see her joy and wonder where it comes from. She shares with the other turtles that joy is a gift from God. At times, the log she lives life on is more like a rolling balance beam. Most turtles wouldn't expect to see leaping when the waves are crashing over her head.
B leaps anyway. She remembers these words:
Consider it pure joy , my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. James 1:2-3B's joy isn't a reflection of her circumstances. Her joy is reflected in her circumstances!
The LORD is my strength and my shield;my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. Ps 28:77
"B" His Girl
This is a great post. If we put to much expectation in the outcome of our situations, instead of focusing on God, our joy can be shaken. But when our eyes are fixed on GOd, Nothing can shake us!

This makes me think of how the gymnastics coach always tell my girls to keep their eyes on the end of the beam and they won't fall off. But if they keep looking all around them then they get shaken. We have to keep our eyes on Jesus all the time, or we get shaken...
ReplyDeleteAnd why have I not put this on my own blog for pity's sake......
Think I'll do that in a minute.
Found you from Ginger's blog. What a cute post you have here. The comparison between gymnast and turtles, wow. I'll be keepin' on keepin' on with my eyes on Jesus.
