This hand towel was a special gift from another turtle. B has been 'pond'ering what to do with her crisp white towel for some time. Part of her wants to save it. "Save it for what?" you might ask.
B has seen lots of other turtles save their gifts. You may be familiar with the 'Save the Towel' campaign. The turtles wait for a special occasion to use their towel. Many days and even years go by with their towel tucked away in their shell. For some turtles, that special day never comes. Their towel is never used and they leave the pond with great regret.
B thought about hanging up her towel for show, hoping no one would need it. She can't really do that though because she sees the dirty turtle toes around her. She knows how great it is to have your turtle feet cleaned! That's when she began to understand why she was given a towel. "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others." (I Peter 4:10)
B has a riddle for you: What's black and white and red all over? If you answered the newspaper, that's only part of the answer. The real answer is the Bible. The red letters make the purpose of the towel clear. Read Jesus's red words after He used his towel.
"Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13:12-17
Don't throw in your towel turtle girls...use it. You will be blessed!

Hi Barbara! First I would like to say thank you for stopping by Rich Gifts Graphics & Blog Design, and for your participation in our fun contest. We are so enjoying the poems!
ReplyDeleteI turned on my computer to check my emails and your comment was the first one I read. I want you to know that it really blessed my heart. So I clicked on over here to pay a visit and found one blessing after another. I love the name of your blog.
My first question to you is what is the deal with the turtles? You see, I have a turtle collection. By turtle I mean tortise which I see you understand as yours are all tortises (the ones I saw). You see that "Joyful Turtle" of yours? I have her sister. She looks identical but in a different pose. This may not seem like any big deal but I do believe God was saying, "Stop & Read". I read the first four posts and again felt God speaking to my heart. Most of what I read was about FAITH and guidance, again this is what I needed. Thank you for blessing me today!
Best wishes in the contest!!
Hey "B" - just wanted to say great job on the poem at my place. Thanks for participating. Remember you can enter once a day through Friday, so be sure to come back if you'd like.
ReplyDeleteI love your towel story, Turtle Girl! How do you keep coming up with all the turtle stuff?
And I read Edie's comment. What a blessing you are. Kudos.
In God's economy--we save it, we lose it--or we give it away and we get more. He seems foolish to the world because it goes against worldly advice. Thanks for the reminder and God Bless. How did your speaking engagement go?
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to drop by and say thank you for your comments on my blog today. Your words of encouragement were greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteMany, many blessings to you!
Love,
Bonnelle
What a great post! So many of us want to hoard our gifts or save them for a rainy day instead of giving them away or using them for His glory. I really like Turtle Tuesday!
