Turtle Tuesdays: The Pearly Coat

Welcome to Turtle Tuesdays. Each week, I feature a turtle from my collection and share her story. Sometimes we stay on the surface of the water; other times we go deeper. I totally have fun with this! I hope you do too.

Meet B, the pearl coated turtle.

Have you ever wanted to blend in your environment and not b seen? B is known for b'ing a lot like that in her turtle world. This information may come as a surprise to you, but it's true. She's a little sheepish, even for a turtle.

The question is: Why would a shiny turtle ever want to look like the matte colors around her? B, the pearl coated turtle, knows the answer to that question. Opening your 'box' to the world exposes your heart. (Cupid is not the only one who shoots arrows.) B uses her 'box' for protection and control. Often her actions interfere with the maker of her pearly coat. Can any of you on the B log relate to B's struggle?

B has something inside though that can't be hidden. The Living Word is inside her box. He cannot be contained. He always operates 'out of the box' , but you have to b open to see Him work.

One of His Names is The Good Shepherd. B carries a picture of Him in her heart. The Good Shepherd watched over B when she was not paying any attention to His leading. Talk about a stiff neck! B had one. She left His pasture to taste what looked like greener grass. The Good Shepherd, in turn, left the fold to find her. He never gave up on the fact that B was HIS 'sheepish turtle'.

B can never fully express her gratitude to Him. She tries though. Whether B is using her pearls as camouflage or openly letting Him use her box, He is with her. One day B will break the hinge off her box. It will b a Beautiful thing to Him.

He has made Everything beautiful in its time. Ecc. 3:11

Thank you Jesus. I love you. B

  2. "Opening our box" makes us vulnerable to judgement. I think that's why its scary and comfortable to keep it closed. But being vulnerable is sometimes the best way to reach out to others.
I love Turtle Tuesdays;I look forward to reading the B's log.

  3. I just love your turtle analogies. They are so true to our lives. We all struggle with opening up and making ourselves vulnerable to others. I really enjoyed this one B.

That book review will publish tomorrow. Had a bit of a struggle with blogger. Blogger won. :)

  6. B, thanks for visiting me over at The Point. Come back anytime.

I loved this post about the Pearl coated turtle. Opening our box and being vulnerable is so important. We talked about this in our small group time yesterday. The world needs to see Christians being REAL. There is so much fakey stuff in the Christian world and that just turns true seekers off. Let's be real!!

  8. B your light is shining. You couldn't keep it inside if you tried. It isn't always easy to let it all out.

  12. I love your turtle stories. I used to wonder how God could love me - such an unworthy creature. Then one day while I studied his word on my front porch He gently encouraged me to stand and walk to the edge of the porch where I found a turtle, on his back, totally limp. I picked that poor thing up, took him to a spot in the shade by a tiny pool of water left over by the sprinkler. Slowly the ugly, pre-historic like creature came to life. It gave me such joy to rescue it. Then God spoke to ME! "It gives me such joy to rescue you." Wow - if I a mere human creature could take joy in "loving" a turtle then of course God takes joy in loving me. End of thoughts over whether or not God loves me! I never see a turtle that I don't think of God's love for me. I guess that is why I visit your blog! I love your turtles.
